What would our history be like if the central event of the Battle of Caseros were a meeting that nobody could document? Which images serve as gateways to the uncertainties of official historical accounts? Ariel Cusnir presents, at PASTO, Los Rojos, a series of paintings that, in some cases, resemble history painting, and in others deliberately distance themselves from the genre, posing a contemporary question regarding the status of the news. This investigation, oscillating between philosophical conjecture and archival work, aims to create an indistinguishable space between historical discourse and the history of its constructors, between the verbal life of the grand narrative and the mundanity of its actors, where the image (and its documentary capacity for notation) finds the power to embody multiple versions and visions, highlight discontinuities and intervals, and turn perspective into a mobile and multifaceted point.
